Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours is not here, our customer service team will sort it.

Home Charging

Do I need an engineer to visit before I get a quote?

No. Our 60-Second Virtual Survey means you can get a real, fixed-price quote by uploading three photos from your phone — your fuse box, your parking spot, and the proposed cable route. No home visit is needed before you know the price.

How long does a home EV charger installation take?

Most home installations take between two and four hours. The exact time depends on the cable run distance and any additional electrical work required. Your engineer will confirm a likely duration when they arrive.

What charger speed do I need at home?

For most home users, a 7kW AC charger is the right choice. It fully charges the majority of EVs overnight and is compatible with almost all domestic electricity supplies. If you have a three-phase supply or a vehicle with a higher onboard AC charge rate, we will advise on the appropriate option during your survey.

Can I get a home charger installed if I rent?

Yes — renters are eligible for the OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant provided the landlord gives permission. We can supply a landlord permission letter template if you need one. Speak to our team and we will advise based on your specific situation.

What happens if I need to charge when away from home?

Your EV is compatible with public charging networks using standard connectors (Type 2 for AC, CCS or CHAdeMO for DC fast charging depending on your vehicle). Home charging handles most of your day-to-day needs; public charging covers longer trips. We can advise on apps and networks that work best with your vehicle.

Grants & Funding

How much is the OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant?

The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant is worth up to £500 toward the cost of purchasing and installing a home chargepoint. It is available to eligible homeowners and renters. Because Kentures is an OZEV-approved installer, we apply it directly on your invoice — you pay the reduced price from the start.

Do I need to apply for the grant myself?

No. We handle the entire application on your behalf and deduct the grant from your quoted price. There is no government portal to log into, no forms to complete, and no rebate to wait for.

What is the Workplace Charging Scheme?

The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) offers up to £500 per charging socket for up to 40 sockets, available to registered UK businesses, charities, and public sector organisations. Like the homeowner grant, Kentures manages the full application and deducts the funding directly from your project invoice.

What is the LEVI programme?

The Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) programme funds larger-scale public charging infrastructure — car parks, high streets, and community sites. It is primarily aimed at local authorities and developers. Kentures handles all LEVI application paperwork as part of any eligible project.

Commercial & Business

What is a Virtual Feasibility Report?

A Virtual Feasibility Report is a free, no-obligation assessment of your commercial site, produced using satellite imagery and local grid data. It includes a capacity analysis, grant eligibility confirmation, infrastructure design recommendation, and full cost breakdown. There is no site visit required and it is delivered within 24 hours of your request.

What types of commercial site do you work with?

We work with workplaces, fleet depots, retail parks, hotels, residential developments, car parks, schools, local authorities, and other public sector sites. If you manage a site with vehicles or customers that need charging, we can design and install a solution for it.

How does smart load management work?

Smart load management balances the available electrical capacity across multiple chargers so your site does not exceed its grid connection limit. It means you can install more chargers than your raw supply would normally allow, with the system automatically adjusting the charge rate of each bay in real time based on demand.

Trade & Partnerships

How do I become a Kentures Approved Installer?

Apply through the Business Partnerships section of our Solutions page. You will need to hold OZEV approval or NICEIC registration. Once approved, you receive your first three qualified local leads free, access to trade pricing, and ongoing OZEV compliance support.

What margin do trade partners receive?

Approved Installers access tiered trade pricing with margins up to 30%, depending on volume. Distributor and reseller partners have separate pricing structures. Full terms are provided during the partner application process.

Do trade partners need to be OZEV-approved already?

OZEV approval or NICEIC registration is required to carry out residential installations under the grant scheme. If you are working toward approval, speak to our partner team — we can advise on what is needed and how the programme works once you are approved.
